*If you do not have a designer paper you can print your designs to obtain a homemade designer paper of your choice or use cardstock with the colors that are characteristic of Halloween: Orange, purple or beige.
**Choose the material and color of the frames according to your options or needs, make sure it matches the other materials.
Arrange Designs in Silhouette Studio
Step 1: Load the Halloween Wall Decor Design Template
Download the design file to a folder on your PC, then open the Silhouette Studio program and click the “File” button in the top panel, then click “Open.”
In the dialog box, browse to the folder in which you stored the design and double-click the file to open it in the Silhouette design software.
Step 2: Organize the design for the cut
This is how you should see the Halloween frame designs when you open them:
Depending on the size of your frames you will need to adjust the size of the designs before cutting them.
My paintings measure 8 x 10.5 in (20.3 x 26.6 cm) so I will adjust my designs to this size.
Tip: I suggest you resize the designs having the elements grouped so they don’t lose their proportion.
Cutting process
Step 1: Select the elements, materials, tools, and cut settings for each element
I suggest you start by cutting the bottom sheet of the pictures. Take the measurement of the back frame of your pictures, draw a rectangle in the Silhouette design software with that same size and send it to be cut.
Click the “Send” button in the upper right section of the menu and set the cutting options.
To cut this element you must select the designer paper and put it on the cutting mat, load the mat into the machine with the added material.
Insert the AutoBlade into carriage 1 of the machine.
Click on the “Send” option in the lower section of the cut menu.
Note: Repeat this same step depending on the number of wall decors you are going to make, in my case I cut two backgrounds.
After having cut the backgrounds of the wall decors, I suggest you start with cutting the elements that go inside.
How about you cut out the “October 31” design first?… just bring it into the design area, and drag the rest out.
To cut this element you must select the black cardstock, put it on the cutting mat, and load the mat on the machine with the adhered material.
Insert the AutoBlade into carriage 1 of the machine.
Click the “Send” button in the upper right section of the menu and set the cutting options.
To cut this element I suggest you activate the “Line Segment Overcut”.
October 31!
Now I suggest you cut the second and last design, the catrinas marriage, you must first bring it to the design area.
To cut this element you must select the black vinyl, put it on the cutting mat, and load the mat into the machine with the adhered material.
Insert the AutoBlade into carriage 1 of the machine.
Click the “Send” button in the upper right section of the menu and set the cutting options.
To cut this element I suggest you activate the “Line Segment Overcut”.
Perfect! You have already cut all the necessary elements… Now to assemble the wall decorations!
Step 2: Remove the Excess Vinyl
With the help of a hook, remember to remove the excess vinyl from the design. Check the design on your PC to see the areas you need to remove and not make mistakes.
Assembly process
Step 1: Use High-Quality Glue
Glue the “October 31” design to the background sheet of the wall decor using high-quality glue.
Note: I suggest you use the outline left over from the design cut as a reference to apply glue and the elements on the background sheet in a symmetrical way.
Step 2: Using the transfer material
Add the vinyl cut catrinas wedding designs to the material or soft transfer tape.
Step 3: Transfer the design
Place the transfer paper with the vinyl design on the background sheet of the painting symmetrically, use a ruler to help you, take your time, you don’t want a crooked design.
Use a spatula to apply pressure to the design and improve adhesion to the background paper.
Tip: Avoid applying pressure with the spatula on the areas that do not have vinyl, to prevent the transfer material from sticking to the background paper and damaging it when you remove it.
Finally, remove the transfer material very slowly so that you can correct if any part of the design has not adhered properly to the backing film.
I already want to display these wall decorations at my Halloween party!
Congratulations, your Halloween wall decorations are ready!
